Vermont on April 7, 2009, became the fourth state but the first jurisdiction in the United States to legalize same-sex marriage through legislative means to recognize gay marriage, the D.C. Council voted to recognize same-sex unions performed in other states. The two actions give same-sex marriage proponents new momentum, following a similar victory last week in Iowa's Supreme Court.
美國佛蒙特州（Vermont）對同志婚姻關係合法化議題，討論已經超過20年，一直未有定論。終於在2009年4月7日正式承認同性戀婚姻合法化，成為全美第一個透過立法機構投票表決通過的州，也是第4州允許同性戀婚姻的州。（前3州分別是康乃狄克州、麻薩諸塞州、愛阿華州，但上述3州允許同性戀婚姻的權力基礎來自法院。連同佛蒙特州，東北13州已有3州承諾同性戀婚姻。）
Vermont也是受世人所寵愛的Teddy Bear（泰迪熊）的家，它的原生產工廠就位於這裡。來到這裡，除了可以參觀完整的泰迪熊生產流程，更可以在factory tour最後製作一隻屬於自己獨一無二的泰迪熊。從選擇熊皮的材質、顏色、大小，到填充自己喜好的棉花多寡，最後工作人員會為妳/你縫起缺口，在收線的時候讓妳/你親自拿起剪刀剪斷棉線，就好像替寶寶剪斷臍帶一樣。最後，會發給妳/你一張這隻泰迪熊的出生證明，填上親自命名的名字，然後就可以把專屬於妳/你的泰迪熊帶回家囉！這對於無法孕育完全屬於倆人結晶的同志伴侶來說，也是一種特別溫馨的體驗呢！房間裡面擺設了主人從小到大收集的各式玩具熊和收藏品，希望能帶給大家溫馨可愛的感受；不過當然也僅限在房間內享用囉！
